soft as loungewear but they look like work trousers

The magic of these is the contradiction, they feel like the softest lounge pants I own yet the steel grey flare reads as a proper tailored trouser to everyone else. I have worn them to client meetings and been complimented on my outfit while secretly being as comfortable as if I were on my sofa. The pockets and the flattering waist just seal the deal. genuinely my favourite work piece.

the waistband stays put through a whole day of sitting

Because I wear these tucked with fitted tops to work, a waistband that folded or rolled would ruin the look, but the wide band on the muted grey stays perfectly flat and smooth through eight hours in a desk chair with no digging and no muffin top. It keeps the tailored illusion intact from the first meeting to the last. Combined with the flare and the pockets it is a genuinely faultless work trouser.
